At Brazil Iron we are focused on developing a mining project that cares for the society and the environment. We aim to operate at international standards, reassuring our shareholders and the local community that our operation is safe and sustainable.
We aim to reduce the risks associated with our activities by prioritising techniques that minimise negative impacts and investing on initiatives to preserve and restore the environment.
Brazil Iron prides itself in working close to the local community, supporting its projects and contributing to their development. We see the municipalities where our project is located as partners to create economic opportunities. We are always looking to prioritizing local business, employing local people and developing projects to invest in education and environmental responsibility.
We have committed where possible to paying our taxes locally and ensuring our suppliers do the same as this helps to improve local communities. We want Bahia to have good hospitals, roads and education and understand the role we can play to help achieve this goal.
Our project has already had a significant impact locally and it will continue to do so as our project develops. The main impacts are job creation, increased tax revenues and increased production value. These factors jointly contribute to the improvement of socio-economic conditions of the areas of influence of the Abaíra Project.
These benefits go beyond direct impacts, and they generate indirect impacts in various sectors of the economy which also extend to a wider geographical location.
At Brazil Iron we are committed to preserving and enhancing the natural environment around our project. We work closely with the environmental regulators, including the Institute of environment and water resources INEMA and Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA). We also work closley with the local municipality to ensure that the our work is undertaken to th ehighest possible envioenmental standards and that local environmental projects are supported.
As part of the Bahia community we are also engaged in the establishment of a nature reserve for future generations so that when we stop mining we will leave the environment in a better state than when we found it.
